Mary Moran Obituary (2022) – Brooklyn, NY – Legacy Remembers
Posted by Jim on March 30, 2022
It is with deep sorrow we inform you of the death of our sister, Mary Moran. Mary Moran (nee Lawson), 97, of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. Beloved wife of the late John Moran. Dear mother of Irene (Dunn), Mary (Fuentes), James, and John. An incredibly loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Mary is survived by her daughter Mary, and sons, James, and John, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and the late grandson Thomas Dunn.
Mary wore many hats from making bullets during WWII, cleaning offices of the Rockefeller’s, and finally landing a gig at Our Lady of Perpetual Help cooking for the Sisters of Saint Joseph until she hung up her apron at the age of 83.
Other than being a devout parishioner, she was devoted to her beloved Brooklyn Dodgers until they left for Los Angeles. Refusing to become a Yankee fan, she held hope for another option which came with the New York Mets in 1962. She enjoyed going to Shea Stadium until it’s demise and was in attendance at Citi Field once to watch her team play. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Chapter 908 and was also a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 22, Bayridge. Mary joined the LAOH in 1999 and has been an active member in the LAOH; she was the recipient of the LAOH Kings County prestigious St. Brigid Award. Please stop and say a prayer for Mary.
As Mary goes off to Tir N’ anOg. Tir N’anOg is the place of the Blessed. There is no pain. There is no sorrow. There is only great joy. Weep but briefly for your loved one, for by now Mary has obtained a pleasure that is unattainable on this Earthly Realm. For by now our Sister, Mary has seen the face of God. She is at peace.
