THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

Please note that the Thanksgiving holiday is Thursday, November 28, 2019, NOT November 21, 2019, as listed on the UFA Calendar. Please make sure your schedules are adjusted accordingly.

BRONX VETERANS DAY PARADE

The 35th Annual Bronx Veterans Day Parade will be held Sunday, November 10, 2019, kicking off at 12:00 PM at the intersection of E. Tremont & Lafayette Aves, and ending at Bicentennial Veterans’ Memorial Park, where a ceremony honoring veterans, the Grand Marshal and Honorary Grand Marshals will be held immediately after. Christopher Slutman will be honored as Honorary Grand Marshal. This year’s parade commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the American Legion.

VETERANS DAY PARADE

Permission is granted for off-duty members to participate in the 2019 Veterans Day Parade on Monday, November 11, 2019. Participating members of the Department should assemble on Fifth Avenue between 23rd and 24th Streets, Manhattan, at 1000 hours. Dress uniform shall be worn. 20 YEAR REUNION

A 20 year reunion for the 4th class of 1999 will be held on November 15, 2019, at 7:00 PM at Rathbones Restaurant, 1702 2nd Ave, New York, NY 10128. For information, contact FF Kevin Whalen, L147 Group 5 at (516) 375-7976.

150TH ANNIVERSARY – ENGINE COMPANY 211

On Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 11:00 am, the officers and members of Engine Co. 211 will host a ceremony in quarters at 26 Hooper St., Brooklyn, NY to commemorate their 150th Anniversary. All active, retired members and their families are invited to attend. Parking will be limited so please utilize mass transit options if available.

TURKEY TROT

The 41st Annual Turkey Trot Run hosted by E-233/L-176 will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at 1130 hours in Broad Channel, NY. Assembly point is next to the American Legion, 209 Cross Bay Blvd. Pre-registration is $20, race day registration is $25. Make checks payable to: Ladder 176 Engine 233 Turkey Trot, 25 Rockaway Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11233. Proceeds benefit various FDNY charities. NEW YORK STATE HONORARY FIRE CHIEF’S ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Department is now accepting applications for this year’s New York State Honorary Fire Chief’s Association Scholarships. All active FDNY Fire Officers, Firefighters and EMS personnel who are currently enrolled or will be enrolled in college or graduate level courses during the 2019-2020 academic year are eligible to apply. 15 Scholarships of $3,000 each will be awarded.
