The Christian Brothers

Posted by Jim on June 26, 2019

by Paul Ryan, a resident of Louth, with a poem from his collection.

The mirrors reflection

Foreign to me

Not the manI wanted to be.

Unanchored nowCast adrift

Haunted memories

Through which I sift.

Poisoned by narrowness

Tattooed with doubt

Gripped by fear

Day in day out.‘Twas never our fault

We succumbed to their rage
