Following congressman Brendan Boyle’s introduction of a resolution to Congress opposing the imposition of a hard border in Ireland, 40 senior Irish-Americans, including five former US ambassadors, wrote to British PM Theresa May and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, outlining their alarm at the direction of Brexit. The British PM has effectively been told by the EU to choose between a Brexit deal and the DUP. She will try again next week to get a Brexit deal through Parliament, with less than 20 days to go before the March 29 deadline. Brian O’Dwyer: Grand Marshal, 2019 New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade: Brian will lead the marchers up Fifth Avenue next Saturday March 16, 2019 in the 258th New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, the world’s oldest and largest civic parade. He is the son of Paul O’Dwyer, lawyer, civil rights activist and President of NYC Council, and, the nephew of William O’Dwyer, former Mayor of NY. Both Paul and Bill were Grand Marshals of the Parade in 1974 & 1938 respectively. Brian has received numerous accolades for his tireless work over the years on behalf of immigrants and Ireland.
