Dear Friends;
‘Walk A Mile in Their Shoes’ charity Walk helps to raise funds for Solace House Inc. a Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention and Awareness Center located at
1040 Jackson Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101. Join us; walk a mile to help others.
Solace House Inc. needs awareness and funding to continue their mission. That’s where we come in, we are organizing a “Charity Walk” in McCarren Park, Greenpoint, Brooklyn on September 9th, 2018. Fund raising events like this are a major source of awareness and funding for Solace House Inc. If you can assist us in any way it would greatly be appreciated. Some ways you may contribute are: financially, volunteering, participating in our Walk, sponsoring or gathering a Team to walk. We also need sponsors for the “Walk A Mile In Their Shoes” event; sponsors may donate funds for items needed for the Walk such as bottles of water, handouts, shirts, music, administrative cost (printing, advertising, permits for NYC Park use…). Sponsors may also donate for general use. If you have any questions about the Walk or how you may become a sponsor, please call Mary at 917 699-9290 or email LAOHBklyn@aol.com.
Solace House Inc. is a Center for Suicide Prevention and Self-Harm Prevention and Awareness. Solace House has their first center in the USA located in Long Island City, Queens, NY (same building as NY Irish Center). Solace House is open to anyone that wants to talk or needs assistance at NO cost. Solace House Inc. was formerly known as Pieta House both here in the USA and in Ireland. The success of Pieta House in Ireland is due to the heavy awareness and promotion of its service through talks provided by Joan Freeman (founder), the Pieta House Team AND the “Darkness into Light” fundraising events held throughout the world. This crucial service is now being replicated in New York thru Solace House Inc. by bringing awareness of the subject of suicide and self-harm and by providing a place one can go to talk and receive counseling sessions at NO charge. Their services are open to everyone: those that need to talk and to the family and friends affected by a suicide.
ALL profits from this event go to Solace House Inc. in Long Island City, Queens. Everyone involved in the running of this event is volunteering their time and services. Please consider helping this worthy cause. If you are unable to donate at this time, you may do so in the future, Solace House Inc. accepts donations throughout the year.
