Memorial of Saint Rita of Cascia, religious

I rejoice in following your statutes
as one rejoices in great riches.
I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.

Psalm 119:14-15

Dear friends in the Lord:

Did you know that the great St. Augustine’s conversion began when he heard children singing, “Take and read!”? They were talking about the Bible. He did take it, and he did read it – and it changed his life.

The Bible is the richest source of information and inspiration on God’s laws and His love for us that we can ever hope to have – until, of course, we meet Him face to face! That is why every year in June, the Archdiocese of New York hosts the New York Catholic Bible Summit, where you can hear from today’s leading scripture scholars, hear the Word of God proclaimed with reverence, and learn how to make sacred scripture central in your life.

This year we are honored to have as keynote speakers Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, and Juan José Cardinal Omella, Archbishop of Barcelona, in addition to other distinguished clergy and workshop presenters. All the details and registration materials are here. For any other questions, you may contact Liliana Cruz of the archdiocesan Catechetical Office by email or by phone at 646-794-2692.

I hope you will attend this special event – and “take and read” with ever greater fervor. With prayerful best wishes, may I remain,

Faithfully in Christ,

Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan

Archbishop of New York
