This day 134 years ago – 6 November 1887 – a meeting was held in St Mary’s Church Hall in Calton, Glasgow.At it, Brother Walfrid (Andrew Kerins), a native of Ballymote, Co Sligo, founded a football club to help alleviate poverty.It was the Celtic Football and Athletic Club.To read more about the founding of Celtic, pick up a copy of This Day in Irish History, available online and in all good bookshops.
