This week, on the 20th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, Irish America marked it with a set of Principles named after the late Martin McGuinness, Deputy First Minister, N.Ireland. Senator Minority Leader, Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has endorsed the McGuinness Principles which were drafted collectively by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Brehon Law Societies and the Office of NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, who launched them at a packed event at Hunter College, NYC.
Emmett Woods, Development Chairman & PRO, Rockland GAA: Uachtaran na hEireann, Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland will spend 5 days in New York next week where he will address the UN, attend high-level meetings, the Irish Arts Center concert and Rockland GAA Center among other community events. Rockland GAA invites all to celebrate the President and Sabina Higgins’ visit on Saturday next, April 28 at 10.45am at its facility located in Orangeburg, NY. A full day of activities is planned including Gaelic football, hurling and camogies games, live traditional Irish music, Irish dancers, food and drink. A great day out for the family.
