ESPN 9/11 VIDEO SHOOT
ESPN is filming a Max Schneider video of his song “Still New York” to be aired prime time on 9/11 as part of their program “Comeback Season.” The program is about how sports helped in the days and weeks after 9/11. Members and their families wishing to attend should arrive at Pier 17 on Thursday, Aug 30th, at 6 PM. Light food will be provided. The shoot will conclude by sunset. Members are requested to wear Class A uniform. Any questions, email mschreiber@ufanyc.org
 
ANNUAL WALK OF REMEMBRANCE
The Father Mychal Judge 9/11 Walk of Remembrance will be held on September 9, 2018. The Rosary will begin at 9:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church followed by a Catholic Mass at 9:30. The Walk of Remembrance will follow at 10:30 at E1/L24 on 31st Street and 7th Avenue. The Walk will conclude at St. Peters Church on Barclay Street at 2:30. All are invited to walk down 7th Avenue, the route that Father Mychal and so many others traveled on that fateful day. Fire Companies, NYPD Precincts and PAPD Units will be honored along the Walk. MEMORIAL MASS
Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 0900 hours, a Memorial Mass will be held honoring the memory of Firefighter Michael J. Gorumba, E-163, who made the supreme sacrifice on August 28, 2001. The mass will take place at Holy Family Church located at 366 Watchogue Road, Staten Island, NY. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.
 
PLAQUE DEDICATION
Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at 1100 hours, a Plaque Dedication will be held honoring the memory of Firefighter Michael R. O’Hanlon, E-68, who died on August 28, 2017. The dedication will take place in the quarters of E-68/L-49, 1160 Ogden Avenue, Bronx, NY. All off-duty members and their families are invited to attend. Members are requested to attend in dress uniform.
 
FIREHOUSE KITCHEN TALK AT FRIENDS OF FIREFIGHTERS: PENSIONS WORKSHOP
Join Friends of Firefighters on Wednesday, August 29th, from 6-9 PM, at 199 Van Brunt Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231, for a firefighter-prepared dinner followed by a pension and retirement workshop with Al Connolly, FDNY Pensions Director, and Karen Donnelly, who has been working with Friends of Firefighters for the past 7 years helping families identify financial goals and develop living-plans that include tax strategies, life insurance planning, retirement income planning, and money management. Together they will provide plenty of information as well as one-on-one meetings for those thinking about their futures and planning for retirement. FREE for FDNY firefighters, no RSVP necessary, and in the words of retired firefighter Tony Cat, “Bring a friend.”
