NATIONAL STAIR CLIMB TO HONOR FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS
In a nationwide effort to expand services to more families of fallen firefighters, the FDNY and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) are sponsoring the 3rd annual National Stair Climb at Belmont Park on Sunday, October 1^st. Proceeds will benefit the FDNY Counseling Services Unit (CSU) and the NFFF.  Learn more at www.nationalstairclimb.org. Our goal is to have an active member climb for each of the 343 firefighters lost on 9/11 and all members lost since, due to 9/11-related illnesses. MICHAEL T. CARROLL YORKVILLE 9/11 MEMORIAL DINNER DANCE
Saturday, October 21^st, 7-11pm, Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 230 East 90^th Street, NY.  Ticket price $40 per person (includes dinner and entertainment).  Featuring Yorkville’s DJ Frank Florio.  Cash Bar.  50/50.  Proceeds will be donated to The Michael T. COLUMBIA ASSOCIATION FALL CIGAR NIGHT

YVORRA LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
The Yvorra Leadership Development Foundation (YLD) is currently accepting applications for its 2017 Leadership Awards and Scholarships. The program is open to members of Emergency Services organizations such as Fire and Rescue Departments, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management Agencies, Homeland Security, and members of the U.S. active duty military, and National Guard who have an emergency preparedness and response job description; e.g. firefighter, medic, disaster preparedness, etc. Annual awards are approximately $2,500 each. Special awards of greater value may be issued for leadership development related projects proposed by individuals or groups. To request an application go to www.yld.org and click on “Request an Application”. The deadline for applications is October 30^th and awards are made before January 1, 2018.

MAYOR’S GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Mayor’s Graduate Scholarship Program (MGSP) offers New York City employees an opportunity to study at accredited colleges/universities in the metropolitan area. The program, administered by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS), provides full and partial scholarships for graduate study in a wide variety of fields such as business, public administration, policy analysis, law, education, engineering, nursing, public health, computer science, social work, and other profession-specific programs. MGSP is a great way for employees to enhance their skills in areas of interest, while working for the City full-time and studying on their own time. To be eligible you must be a full-time New York City government employee and have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university or will have completed your undergraduate degree by the fall of the academic year for which you are applying. You must remain a full-time City employee throughout your course of study. Applications are now being accepted for the 2018/2019 academic year. All applications must be sent to Jacqueline Merveil, FDNY Registrar, Bureau of Training/Fire & Life Safety, 401 Murray Avenue, Ft. Totten, NY 11359, no later than Friday, November 17^th. No extensions will be granted nor will any application be processed unless it goes through the Office of Fire & Life Safety screening. All applications must be typed.
